I'd like to open the Nordic skiing season in December, namely 15th of December in Swiss Jura. The area is different than the Alps but really designed for Nordic skiing with its rare spruce forests and huge area of very gentle slopes (http://www.juratourisme.ch/en/leisur...ry-skiing.html).
I would like to propose you a short Nordic ski hike, the classic style, doable even by beginners.
If weather and snow conditions permit, we'll start from Le Noirmont, where an introduction to the classic Nordic style will be given to the very beginners. Then we'll head to Saignélegier (about 7-8km). Depending on our mood, we can play a bit with "telemarking" on the slopes along the route or ski directly to the spa, to warm up in sauna or jacuzzi and have a small meal in the café ( http://www.centredeloisirs.ch/ ).
The skis (the set: skis, polls, shoes) can be rented in Le Noirmont ( http://eray-sports.ch ) - one day costs 30chf - I do not know if the price is fair. Consider also renting skis in Laufen or in Germany.
I will bring the eventually rented skis back to Le Noirmont by car so there is no need to make a loop just for this.
This is a whole day activity - the return to Basel is planned around 19:00-20:00
If the weather is not good, I'll provide an alternative program for the event (but still in Nordic climate)
The program is just a proposal and it'll be modified in realtime, depending on the situation.
