Hi all,
Very nice forum and lots of really helpful and interesting information here! :)
I was recently contacted by a company in Switzerland offering me a job in Lugano and we're currently negotiating. As the salary is open to negotiation (to a certain extent, of course) I would need to know roughly what to ask for. I've looked in many threads, and I found many relevant posts (this one is great http://www.englishforum.ch/daily-lif...get-right.html) but I'm still not quite sure as both salaries, taxation and costs are so different.
I currently live in one of the larger French cities. Here, my disposable income is very close to 2000, not counting food or the car. In other words, after all taxes, social security costs, insurances and the rent, I'm left with just under 2000. This is pretty ok (of course a lot of that go to food, and things like electricity, tv, fuel etc.) and does not make me rich but allows me to travel a bit, buy books etc.
Moving to Switzerland would not be for many, so I'm not looking for a salary that would improve much on this, but would of course think twice about a move that would lead to a lower disposable income.
So my question is: what salary, very roughly, would one need in Lugano to have about 2000, or 2500CHF, left after paying all taxes, all insurances, social security, and the rent for a normal apartment of around 60-70m2?
