Hope you can help me with the below.
Could you please recommend a good orthopedist (back specialist) in the greater Zuerich/Meilen/Rapperswil/Pfaeffikon/Horgen area(s)?
In December 2013 I had a major disc herniation in my lower back. I have been searching the internet and the forum and came across a couple of orthopedists, but basically none of them specializes in or treats disc herniations (or lower spinal/back issues).
The orthopedist I was referred to by my Hausarzt wanted to operate right away instead of exploring alternatives (according to in-depth internet research there are a few) and is unfortunately not very helpful in exploring any alternatives.
I started physiotherapy in the meantime and it works very well for me.
While the pain is mostly gone now, my right foot is still partially numb.
During the last appointment the orthopedist very merrily told me my foot might remain partially numb unless I do an (=his) operation.
I would really like to get a second opinion on this from other specialists to confirm if there is really a pressing need for an operation and to be sure I have considered all alternatives before agreeing to an operation.
