Hi folks,
I'm thinking of doing the Zurich Short Triathlon in July, which will be the first time I've ever tried something like this. Aim will be to get to the end of the course alive and not be last. I've looked at the times from previous years and I think this should be OK.
I don't want to spend vast sums of money getting prepared. So my main question is, will I look stupid if I do the cycling using a hybrid bike which is clearly built for commuting? It has heavy puncture resistant 700x42c tyres which have a fair bit of tread on them for my rides along the Limmat, it has a hub dynamo and a luggage rack, and it's relatively heavy. Sure, the dynamo will slow me down, so will the relatively wide and rugged tyres and the weight of the bike. But I just don't think, given my level of experience (none), investing in a new bike or a new wheel is actually going to make much noticeable difference.
Will I be the only one on a bike like this?
Cheers.
