Hi Every one,

My name is Chris,

I've been working almost 14 years for a Swiss company (as you do) that manufactures textile processing machines, in a wee town called Tobel (9555).

During this period I lived 5 years in India running the local service center, and the rest more or less running around the globe sorting out problems. Wil, just down the road from Tobel, is the town where I purportedly live, or at least benefits from the income tax I pay.

So, although having technically been resident in Switzerland all these years, the actual amount of time "boots on the ground" hasn't been long. (It was only recently I discovered that I had to apply for a Swiss drivers license - and thank you english forum for providing input on the subject)

I've visited the english forum now and then but never thought to get involved as my travel schedule was often and frequently at short notice.
But as I am about to be made redundant maybe now I will have more time (so if anyone is interested in what happens when you are made redundant I might be able to fill you in on some details)

Hobbies, well, being over 50 I'm not inclined to jump out of 'planes and such, but I have been known to dust the cobwebs of my bicycle now and then (and forget to take the suntan lotion with me). I'm fascinated by mechanical things (good thing too, being in engineering) and I used to be an ardent motorcyclist (actually I wonder if I didnt enjoy taking them apart more than riding them). I always intended to buy one here, but I'm still waiting for the summer to arrive.

Apart from that I enjoy music, i used to play in bands, but have gotten into hifi and room acoustics now as a way of opening the artery of my bank account. One of the things I find frustrating is the poor music scene in Switzerland. I knew a Swiss musician who came to London (where I used to live) because of this.

Anyway, that's enough of me....over to you

regards

Chris
