Does anyone have experience or thoughts on how I can proceed with the following situation:
A child's beaker that I purchased from Nuggihuus Basel baby equipment shop at Bankverein broke after a week (silicone straw split). The shop lady stated in broken english that sometimes the straws just break and that is life. She offered me the option of purchasing a replacement straw, which was almost as expensive as buying a new beaker.
I feel strongly that the item is faulty. It was used appropriately and by a child of the age recommended on the packaging. One cannot blame a child biting the straw, because the straw should be strong enough to withstand that. Also, since the straw split at the place where it is designed to bend when the lid goes on, it is not clear whether the straw split due to bending or biting.
I was refused a refund or even exchange for a new one. The lady is going to call the company, but I am not convinced this will go anywhere! She wouldn't make the call with me there. I have to return to the shop next week to discover the outcome of the call.
I realise it is only a beaker; I am lucky that it is not something more expensive and I need to stop obsessing over a piece of silicone ... however, it is the principle of the matter that bothers me!
Any thoughts/suggestions on my rights? Thank you for your time!
