Getting a job before moving - job posts or networking?

Hi all,

I'm planning on moving to Switzerland in a few months. I'm hoping to move over during the summer, but am trying to find employment before I go. I will be leaving a permanent job in Ireland so am trying to find some reassurance that I have some possibility of employment in Switzerland! Just wondering has anyone any advice on the best way to go about this? I am qualified in Health and Safety Systems, with 7 years experience as a H&S Officer, but unfortunately not in the manufacturing/pharmaceutical industry, and have basic German. I have applied to some of the multinationals for specific job posts, but to no avail. Everything I read seems to say that it's all about getting over there and getting to know people, so am just wondering has anyone out there found that networking is the best/only way, or is it possible to get a job via the job posts online? I know that relying on job posts limits the jobs that can be applied for, but any advice is appreciated, to get an idea of how others got their jobs.
