Web site to check how long a business has been operating?

Hi, anybody know of a Swiss (Zurich specifically) web site that has details on a business? I would like to know how long a business has been operating.

In the US you can find out about the detail of a business license using the business name. This is all public records. Ownership information is not disclosed, but basic info like address and how long it has been operating is public.

So is this information public in Switzerland? How do I check?
