US Estimated Tax Payments

Hi Everyone,

Uncle Sam is now unfairly breathing down our necks once again and i still can't wrap my head around the fact that I have to declare income tax and i'm no longer there.

Anyway, I would like to know, for the people the who do owe federal income taxes, do you actually make estimated payments during the calendar year based on what you previously owed? I was told if I expect to owe less than the previous year I shouldn't have to pay any penalties for not making estimated payments.
