UK Child maintenance and tax in Switzerland

I was hoping someone would be able to give me some advice on this topic. I am divorced and a B permit holder in Zurich. My ex husband lives in the UK and pays child maintenance to my UK bank account for the benefit of our son.

Child maintenance is not taxable in the hands of the recipient in the UK, but it appears to be in Switzerland. Effectively my ex gets taxed on this (it is paid from his net income) and I get taxed on it too. My child therefore pays double tax on the maintenance which almost halves it. The courts in the UK obviously do not care that I get much less than ordered, effectively and I wondered if there are some tax treaties between the UK and Switzerland that would avoid such a ridiculous situation.

I would not wish to hide this money as I need it and transfer it to Switzerland (currency exchange, fees and fluctuations also decrease this amount anyway) and even if I was advised to do so, my ex is very hostile and would probably report me anyway just in case, so this would never be an option as he would never agree on anything even if it benefits our child.

Any advice is highly appreciated , as single mother with no family or help, every little helps.

As an afterthought, would I be able to pay my son's nursery fees directly from the UK to avoid being taxed (probably not) or should I consider investing it into a UK trust to avoid paying tax on it here (although I do not the money now and would find it challenging to invest it at this stage)

Thanks for all your advice in advance.
