Car insurance - france for switzerland???

Hello all,

I am having a lot of trouble finding the information to clarify this as I do not understand insurance here in europe at all..

I am an EU citizen and I am living in switzerland - very close to the french border. I do not have a permit to live in Switzerland which means I can not insure a car here. I have an option to live with a friend in France (very close to where I am now in Switzerland) does that mean I can buy/register and insure a car in france but drive it in switzerland (where I am working in the black) and will it be insured in switzerland and france?
