Hello everyone...
I just wanted to throw something out there to see what the general consensus was about the feedback that some people receive on here. I have been a member for quite a few years now (albeit not the biggest contributor :msnblush:) and I really appreciate the work that the admin team and the people who really keep this website running, as an invaluable open source of info for all the expats who move to this country. I moved here as a non-German speaking Brit and the advice and tips that I have read have been a big help to me.
One thing that really seems to p*ss me off though, is the negativity/bitterness of some of the members. When I read through some of the posts, people get irked about some things, especially when it regards money. Talk of salaries, items for sale, financial advice... and people start to get angry :msnmad:!!!
I don't have a massive salary compared to a lot of people here in Switzerland, but I appreciate that I have worked hard for the last 15 years, studying, working 12/14/16+ hours per day on occasions to get a lifestyle and income and most importantly a satisfaction in life that I want.
I was reading an article regarding the RAV and how some people were angry that somebody was made redundant and had to claim from the RAV the money that they are legally allowed to take from this insurance mechanism. Was it this poor guys fault that he lost his job? Probably not. Was it his fault that due to his larger salary he took an apartment which probably costs more than a WG that other people have. Definitely not. Is it also his fault that according to his salary his cost of living also went up. Probably not.
But the reaction of some people was as though he had robbed a bank and killed someone. I just wish that some people would lighten up on here, give advice if it is needed and it's a free world, offer an opinion! Just leave the attitude and the bad day at work you had behind and help out the other expats on here that are looking for advice or some support.
As my grandmother told me when I was a little boy;
'if you don't have something positive or constructive to say then don't say anything at all'.
