Help understanding salary

I am a US citizen and have been recruited by a wonderful Swiss company to move to the Grenchen area (they recommend living in Solothurn or Biel). I have successfully navigated all the interviews and they are now asking me to provide them with an estimate for salary expectations.

I have been looking into lots of resources and find conflicting results about how to calculate what my net salary would be, and also see a lot of differing opinions on wether or not Switzerland is an expensive place to live. I previously lived in the San Jose / San Francisco area so am somewhat used to the higher costs of living.

For help, I am married without children. I have a connection for my wife to teach, but understand permits are very difficult to obtain and thus need to be prepared for single income. I was making ~$82,000 US, with an approx net of $66,ooo. The new position is an increase in responsibility so I will anticipate an increase in salary.

My questions:
What % of my salary should I anticipate going to mandatory costs - tax & insurance?
What % US tax should I anticipate paying additionally?

I just don't want to get what I think is a great salary only to find that I am no better off than in the states, or even worse...

Grateful for any help you can provide, even if it is only "ballpark" and am happy to learn of any major pitfalls you feel are necessary
