Hello, I am a second grade teacher in the US and will be moving to CH this summer with my Swiss husband. I don't have a job lined up yet, so I don't have a school to ask this question. I am starting to pack, but I'm not sure what teaching materials I should bring with me. I have TONS of classroom books, manipulatives, posters, bulletin board materials, pedagogical books, files with tons of worksheets, etc.
I don't know if the schools there have an obsession with overly cute and decorated bulletin boards, like we do in the States. We are paying our own shipping, so I just want to bring what is necessary.
I will be looking for work in international schools and bilingual schools. I only speak English at the moment, but will be learning German/Swiss German.
I can also tutor. I am TESL endorsed and have a Middle school math teaching certificate. I have taught 2nd grade for 7 years. Before teaching, I was a nanny/ care giver to children (age 1 month -10 years) for several years.
Do teachers create their own curriculum material or do you use certain programs, i.e. Singapore Math, Investigations, Voyager?
I know the IB program is not like the Common Core :), so I'm guessing a lot of my teacher books can find new homes with my teacher friends at my old school.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!
