New meaning to being switzerlanded??

Just enjoyed the Switzerland-Ecuador match here in Dakar. Great performance by 'la nate?. Could someone explain the origins of this name to me? thanks.
Also wondered if Ecuador feel they have been 'Switzerlanded'? the often used term on this website.
