I am a 37 year old "professional" living in Zurich on a B permit since 2009. Maybe I got the law wrong, but instead of asking for another 5 year B permit, I applied for a C permit. I live in Zurich Seebach and the employees at the Kreisbüro assured me it was alright to apply for a C permit.
Which meant checking certain boxes on the application, not much else.
(Or how I understood it - and they said it was "no problem")
I am from Hungary, so I belong to EU-8 as far as I understand.
I now got a letter saying that the C-permit cirteria for Hungarians is 10 years, but I'm not fulfilling that.
Is a specific "per country" rule in place, or just for EU-8, and if so, can you please help me read about this law, or what sense it makes to wait 10 years for the C permit if you get citizenship in 12 years?
I have read about so many people non-EU getting a C after 5 years on this forum that I'm frankly confused.
Much appreciated.
