I have been living in Switzerland for almost 8 years and have been giving serious consideration to applying for Swiss Citizenship in a few years but there are a few things which I am unclear about.
1. Does the 12 years of residence need to be consecutive? Back in the late 90s I lived in Geneva for just over 2 years. If the 12 years of residency does not need to be consecutive the I have chalked up just over 10 years and have less than 2 years to go before I can apply for citizenship.
2. Do years spent in Switzerland on a Lump Sum Taxation Visa count toward the 12 year residency requirement?
3. As a businessman I spend a lot of time abroad during the year, between 150 and 200 days. Is there a maximum amount of time a person is allowed to be outside of Switzerland in any given year for the year to count towards the 12 years of residency?
