On the second Tuesday of each month we meet up for a meal and a chat at a reasonably priced restaurant in Bern.

The restaurant Altenberg has been owned and run for many years by an eastern Turkish family. There is a large terrace under big trees, next to the river, so it will be cool in the evening, and about 60 places inside if it rains. You can bring dogs, but please smoke downwind from me,

I can't find the menu online, but we can expect Turkish & Mediterranean food, which in the past has been very popular with our group.
A plate of Donner meat, rice & salad costs Fr 22,-- . A mixed starter and bread costs Fr 21,-- A large beer is Fr 6,70 a small wine is Fr 9,--

Car parking is limited, about 5 restaurant places & then blue zone parking.

Below the Kornhaus road bridge is a foot bridge, low down, just above the river. If you go to the Kornhausplatz, then walk to the right and down the hill on Grabenpronenade. Keep right and there is a tunnel under the road, then you can walk down to the river, and then across the foot bridge, and turn left for the restaurant

Please don't choose the "maybe" selection. I spend Tuesday trying to contact you, as I find it embarrassing explaining that I don't know if the guest is coming or not. There is a useful reminder function at the top right on this page, please decide, yes or no.

Please note: the restaurant doesn't take cards, you must pay cash.

I will close the reservation list at 4pm on Tuesday, and then tell the restaurant exactly how many of us are coming.

Looking forward to seeing you there, hopefully the weather will be nice!
If the weather is nice I will probably go there a bit earlier and drink a large beer...

Bring a sweater or a jacket, it does get cool later as the river takes the warmth away.
