English County Court Judgement

Hi

This is not about Switzerland but I could not see where to put it. I won aUK court case in 2007 and was awarded a sum of money. The lawyer said that his costs needed to be paid first and went about extracting them from the defendant over the next few years. The lawyer then retired and refused to tell me what had been paid. He sold the firm on and the new owners do not respond to my requests for the paperwork. I understand that the costs (which were more than the sum awarded to me) were mostly recovered. I now wish to pursue the matter myself for the money awarded to me.

I don't understand if what I have is a County Court Judgement (CCJ). It is a Judgment from the County Court. However, when I look up CCJ on Google it is described as "A CCJ is a judgment that a county court issues when someone has failed to pay money that they owe". My case was against abuilder who made a mess of my house. The Judgement awards me money.

I see that a CCJ never times out, but what I have is perhaps something else? Any ideas please?

Since the dodgy builder is now a town councillor, it would seem a good time to tackle him for my money.

Kind regards, Penelopy
