I've seen several hitch hikers here and heard it is quite common. Where I am from in the States, we have been told NEVER pick up a hitch hiker. But despite the teaching, I have twice here with no problems. Once I saw a 13-14 year old girl, passed her, and as I went thru the round about, thought if I don't pick her up who will? So circled back, I am an unassuming woman and had my dog with me, took her to her location and she held the dog on her lap the whole way.
Second time, saw and old man, did the same thing, went about the round-about, thought about it, circled back. Turns out he was on his daily walk and became winded and his heart started hurting and he was not close to a bus or train and wanted to make it home quickly.
What do you do?
