Hello everyone
I need some advise. long story sorry
My son and i are traveling back to australia next week. Last time we flew when we checked in i gave them my aussie passport and my son's swiss passport (he is swiss and aussie) They told me "he is not allowed to enter australia because he doesn't have a Visa for australia" I said "he is Australian" and gave them his aussie passport. they said "you should have given this to us first" When we went through passport control i gave them both aussie passports they then asked to see our swiss visa. I gave them my swiss visa and my sons swiss passport the guy then told me "you should have just showed me his swiss passport" This is when things got very confusing for us.
After that every time someone asked for his passport we just gave them both. Get to australia and just ask them "which one do you want to see" holding up both of my sons passports they told me "traveling in and out of australia just show the aussie passport the other one we don't want to know about"
leaving australia i just showed the aussie passport and when we re-entred switzerland i showed the swiss pass.
I was just going to travel again with both passports but I found out last night that this is highly illegal (apparently) that you can only ever travel with one passport at a time but can't find any information online about it. Would love to hear from other people who have had the same problem and how they fixed it or if it even illegal to travel with more than one passports
