I am looking into different options for studying in Switzerland. I would love to stay a full year, although I know one of the requirements in order to get a student visa is to show a bank statement which would prove that there are sufficient funds (I read in another post that one must show 21,000 CHF for a full year). If the student does not have this amount, is it possible to have one or two parents/relatives combine their bank statement(s) to show 21,000+ CHF?
Another option would be to study for six months. Does anyone know if it is possible to get visa for six months then to renew the student visa without having to return to USA to apply? I worked at an international office at my university and our advisors would tell the international students to go to Canada or Mexico to renew their visas at their countries' embassy. Is this another possibility in Switzerland? Maybe go to Italy or France to do this?
Thanks to all that can help me :D
