First of all i just wanna express my deep appreciation for this forum and all the members who answer question and help resolve issues. I am a newbie here Im so glad i came across this website/forum.
First things first im having some difficulty understanding in my own situation right now about legalising my marriage in Switzerland, Geneva.
I am australian citizen and my husband is swiss national we got married in sydney this year 2014. I just wanna outline the steps that i already done to legalised our marriage in switzerland.
Because i was born in Philippines, The Swiss consulate in Sydney ask me to provide my birth certificate and forward the original documents to Swiss embassy in Philippines, So that the Swiss embassy Philippines can authenticate my birth certificate and prove my civil status in Philippines. After the long process to gather my documents, Now as what the Swiss embassy in Philippines said , they got my entire document needed and they already finish authenticating my documents, and I was told they already forward my document to Switzerland, Geneva (Swiss authorities).
The week after Swiss embassy in the Philippines finalises and authenticate my documents, I personally went to Swiss Embassy in Sydney to submit personally the questioner and our original marriage certificate.
Im leaving Australia soon I want to be with my husband, I already book my ticket and ready to move in Geneva and live with him I was told by Swiss consulate in Sydney that its possible to go there while our legalisation of our marriage is still processing and I was also advice to apply for family reunion visa.
My question:
How long does it take to finalises/legalise our marriage in canton Geneva?
Is it true in Geneva the processing of documents there is slow?
Specifically in our case.
How do they process our documents in Switzerland Geneva in our case?
I work 7days a week to save up and just to be with my husband also organising moving to Geneva my schedule so chaotic. Im just confused the whole process
And I just need more detailed clarification answer. In the meantime, thank you so much for your attention, I really appreciate any help you can provide.:)
