Unemployment RAV

Hey,

Hope you all are doing well!

I have a question regarding RAV. For Non-EU employees on unrestricted B permit what is the maximum allowed RAV support period, if the unemployment insurance was paid for 3+ year?

Is it tied to permit expiry?

Thank you

Using Responsabilité Civil for Covering Rental Damages

$

Good Morning.

My situation is the following one:

-) Have already changed our home insurance to our new address;
-) For medical reasons, we had to change our date of moving and our "état de lieu" is now going to take in the "old" apartment, which is no longer covered by the house insurance.

My question is: as I am pretty sure our état de lieu / exit review is going to come up with some damages, am I better off:

-) Trying to communicate with the insurance that we need to change the date on the contract?
-) Claim any damages on the "Responsabilité Civil" part?

Thanks for those who can advise.

PEX or Stainless Steel [piping]

I'm redoing some pipework, and contesting between PEX and the mapress stainless steel fittings.

Cost is roughly the same (at the diameters I'm using (28mm primarily, but a short run of 35mm from the mains), pex pipe fitting are astronomically expensive - and difficult to find in Switzerland, so would need to order from Germany or UK).

Thoughts? PEX has the advantage of being frost proof, while stainless has decades of evidence that it's pretty reliable (and I have a mapress crimp to hand, while for pex I would need to borrow some TH jaws... which isn't an issue, but would take time to get them sent over).

Any idea where one can source PEX in Swtizerland? Bauhaus seems to have only push-fit (not interesting for me I'm more a crimp fit :p). It would need something that uses the standard TH crimp, and not a propietary one...

Bike carrier for Skoda Yeti.

We are having our bikes upgraded to e-bikes at a shop in Prilly/Lausanne. To get the two bikes there I took out the rear seats and squeezed them in the back, secured with bungie cords.

This is not going to work for the return so I am looking for a rear mounted bike carrier. Not something that needs to be professionally installed.

We likely would also use it, when the lockdown lifts, to get the bikes up the mountains.

Does anyone have any recommendations as to the type and make that might work for me?

Thank you in advance.

Just curious if there are any US Dietitians out there that have gone through the process with the Red Cross to get their diploma recognized...were you able to get it recognized without taking additional courses? Is there an exam? Any info would help before I attempt to go through the process. Thank you!

Non-alcoholic wine that tastes like alcoholic wine for cooking?

Hi guys. To cut a long story short, I am looking to find some non-alcoholic wine that looks and tastes like alcoholic wine (as much as possible) for my cooking.

Before anyone says that cooking takes the alcohol out of wine anyway, it does reduce it, but not as much as many people seem to think:

Source 1: https://www.finedininglovers.com/art...cohol-cook-out
Source 2: https://whatscookingamerica.net/Q-A/AlcoholEvap.htm
Source 3:https://www.foodnetwork.com/how-to/p...cohol-burn-off

So... does anyone please have any good recommendations for deep red/white wines that look and taste (more or less) like their alcoholic brethren, along with the places to go and get it? :)

Can my partner move to CH?

Hi everyone,

Hope you are safe and well all of you.

I need you to shed some light please, if anyone knows. I work full time in CH and I am EU. My partner is EU too, not working, and was about to move to Switzerland. We are not married. Is there any way my partner can still move to CH? Can I somehow prove to the authorities that I will be in charge of any expenses occuring etc so my partner can move to CH?

Thank you very much in advance.

Deductions requested without signing contract

Hi all,

I have a particular question which I could not answer by reading other posts.

Here is the situation. My wife was offered a job as a babysitter. The agreement was that she would work for some weeks as a test and if both sides were pleased, a contract would be signed from then on to make it official.

My wife was very happy and enthusiast. But the time for signing the contract came and surprisingly, it was basically a slavery agreement. There were many clauses that were not agreed verbally at the beginning of the test period. My wife had to agree to cook for the kid, fill out every day an "activity log" of what was done with the kid in hourly basis, clean the house, etc. My personal favorite was: "Such other activities the the employer may require". :msnsarcastic: They wanted a butler with a minimum babysitter salary.

Of course, my wife did not sign it, she received the money owned for the worked time and wish them good luck (they will need it to find such a slave in Switzerland!)

But then, after some days we received by mail a bill from these guys requesting my wife to pay them back the social deductions from the worked time: AHV/IV/EO (5.275%), ALV (1.1%), NBU (1.503%).

My question to you experts in this forum is: Is this valid? Can they charge social deductions for a job done without contract or written agreement? How do we know that the percentages are correct? How do we know that they will really pay these deductions to the authorities? Shall we pay or send them back from where they come?

Thanks a lot in advance for your kind answers.

Swiss answer for Amazon?

I know that by now Amazon has _sort of_ entered Switzerland, but lately with the coronavirus crisis, it seems nothing ships here anymore from Amazon.

With many/most stores closed, and shopping in person a pain (waiting in lines, trying to keep distance) it would be great to find some reasonable online retailers that deliver to Switzerland in some reasonable fashion (not crazy expensive or take crazy long time to arrive).

To give an idea of what I'm thinking of, and since maybe the answers are different depending on the type of item, here is a random selection to give an idea of things I'd like to be able to buy online:

Batteries
Sunglasses
Toiletries (e.g. sunblock, soap, shampoo)
Kitchen items (pan, spatula, knives, water filter, knife sharpener even?)
Vacuum cleaner

An anecdote: About 3 months ago, I tried to order some pans from Pearl.ch. I opted to have them delivered to the local store and pick them up there to avoid the shipping charge. The estimated arrival time was 2 weeks. I went to the store about 3 weeks later and asked, and the employees said that, yes, they can confirm the order has been placed, but there was no way to know when they would arrive, and I would be contacted when they arrived. Well, maybe coronavirus has affected this, but no doubt some companies can continue to function and ship items despite the situation?

Parking a motorcycle in a yellow spot

Hello all!

I am considering to buy a nice enduro motorcycle, a dream of mine and I am making some preparations for it. One of them is parking.

I own a car, a sportback (or hatchback) and I have my own parking space in front of my building. Since my car is not so big, there is still some space enough for a motorcycle.

So the question is, can I park my motorcycle in the same spot with my car? I don't see the problem with it but then again this is Switzerland and I haven't seen anybody doing that.

What do you think?

Hello

I'm looking to buy new network player, but in forums/videos, I cannot find good description of apps which control music streaming.
My interests:
- play own music (CDs converted to FLAC) from NAS
- Spotify (and possibly Amazon Music HD when it come to CH)
- Internet Radio (TuneIn)
No interest:
- muti-room playing music
- Sonos

So, I have heard good and bad points about each app, but I'm wondering if someone has experience, especially with Bluesound and HEOS.
All thoughts, recommendations are wellcome

Looking forward to some answers :-)

IGCSE and A-Levels distance learning teenager

Hello, I am new to the forum and hopefully I can find some help regarding our situation: My 15 year old daughter would be interested in preparing for the IGCSE and A-Levels exams via distance learning. The first question is, can anybody recommend a company that offers a good structure and the necessary material? Do you have any experience with the website Wolsey Hall Oxford homeschooling? We were thinking about combining for example an online school with private tutors (via Skype). Is anyone familiar with this kind of set-up? Can you possibly recommend any tutors who would be available via Skype, etc? Since we are living in Ticino, my daughter cannot visit an actual school to attend classes. Thank you!

Longboarding Meet-up Zurich

Hi All,

I recently fell in love with longboarding and wished to tentatively ask if any longboarders in Zurich would be interested to meet-up for some riding once quarantine is lifted? I'm no professional, so please don't expect any extreme downhill racing. Just casual riding, perhaps along the lakeside.

Best,
Chris
