Kitesurfing in Switzerland

$

Hi,

I’ve recently moved to Bern for work and I’ve recently started to kitesurf in Tarifa and Copenhagen. I want to keep kitesurfing in Switzerland, so I thought Neuchatel was a good place to start. I don’t have my own equipment and I am a beginner so I would like to rent if possible. Can anyone here give me more info/advice/anything on kitesurfing in Switzerland? Also, if anyone wants to join me, you are welcome ;)

Thanks :)

I have rented a house for over 7 years and am getting ready to downsize. Obviously I am aware that I was responsible for gardening maintenance but does this extend to painting a garden shed and cleaning paving stones?

Should I buy a home or invest? I just reached 200k in savings and they are sitting in

Hello, I really need some advice, from different prospectives, on what would be the best way to use my money?

First of all some informations:

-30 years old male
-single
-job in IT (management position, solid company and no foreseeable risk in losing my job)
-making 90k a year
-no debts
-no car (I move with the Train and I got a big scooter for when I need to move, if needed I borrow the car from parents)
-living in rented appartment

I live in Ticino and I have NO plans to move.
I'm confident I will always have/find a job in Ticino.

For that reason, I'm considering one of the following scenarios:

-Buy a house
-Invest heavily my money

I just reached with my last salary, I reached 200k CHF in savings.

Of those, 90% is sitting in my Bank Account and 10% is invested in Crypto.

In the last years I was so busy with life, making a career, that I just left the money there.

Now I want to do something with it and I m seeking advice!

First idea is, would it make sense to buy a house? I'm sure I'll always live in Ticino, currently I'm paying 2'000 CHF per month just to rent.
Even if in the future I switch work place, Ticino is fairly small that I can commute anywhere without issue.
I have the capital to put 20% for a 1million house.
And with the current Interest rates I would probably pay less monthly for the mortgage interests (if I buy a house, I plan to just amortize until only the first mortgage is left (67% of total house value), and then just pay interest for the rest of my life (tax benefits).
So this seems a good idea to me, especially because sooner or later I'll want to start a family and for sure I'll need a bigger place!

The other option is to keep renting and invest heavily all that money, but also here I'm clueless, what is my best option in this case? Would it make sense to invest over buying a property?

Thank you

Hi,

A dark color has been formed on a part of our Balcony floor, probably because of the rainwater remaining due to the blocked balcony drain.

I'm looking for strong liquids to clean it up, now that Coop DIY etc. are again open. I appreciate any recommendations and experiences of working solutions.

Many thanks
Best

Hi everyone,
This is something Im struggling with: I have informed the lessor I will move out in December (8 months from now). I am requested to find a Nachmieter to take over the apartment to avoid paying the monthly rent in Jan, Feb and March by myself! Is there anything I could do to avoid this Nachmieter gesucht?! I know I could give a note by end of June, if I was planning to move out by the end of Sep -- but that's not possible. Im really struggeling with these "official" moving dates here!

lohnpfändung - minimum amount, family abroad

Hello, this is my first post here. I know this topic was discussed here but my case seems to be a little bit different form what I have read here and I am looking for advice.
The case is as follows: 2 years back I took a loan of 100k CHF which was within reach of my salary. Shortly after, around December 2018 my wife got seriously sick (had a heart attack) which put a financial strain on us due to costs incurred in the meantime. This resulted in around 6 months of payment delay with the bank (so I owed about 12k CHF at that point in time) and in turn , due to me failing to comply with last demand, bank started collection proceedings.

With that, the betreibungsamt calculated my existenz minimum based on the definitions, taking into account my rent here etc.
What is important is that my family : My wife and our 5yr old daughter, live in my home country (Poland). In addition my wife has 3 children from previous marriage and I am sole income earner. As such the betreibungsamt calculated the cost of living for my family at 2k CHF a month, which I was fine with. My salary was 8k.

Now,, since the oldest daughter started to study abroad (as far as I am aware betreibung shouldn't hamper education of children) we decided that they will all move to Italy. This is because my wife's condition doesn't allow her to simply stay at home alone as she is at high risk of fibrillation (as she has severe arythmia).

Overall the cost of living increased as now there is rent to pay, but I though I was lucky because I managed to negotiate a salary increase to 9.4k which covers this, or so I hoped.

Now the problem is: while discussing with the betreibungsamt I provided all the documents confirming the costs of living, in addition due to coronavirus they are currently stuck in Italy anyway, yet they still insist on keeping the family allowance at 2k which basically is not enough to cover medical and living expenses.

I tried reaching out to bank, but as long as the collection proceeding last they are not open to negotiating with me, and betreibung says they could only adjust the family allowance if the bank informed them to do so, but obviously on the bank (my creditor) end there is no such procedure.

On the other hand I believe I am reasonable in my approach since the actual amount owed by the time of this proceeding was not and with my salary increase the monthly payment would be still increased .

Is there any procedure that could help me resolve this?
I am starting to consider going for personal bankruptcy, because although not beneficial at all, at least would allow me some breathing space as now it feels as if they really aim to simply destroy me.
thank you for any help and comments

French speakers, helping elderly lady by making a phone call

$

Hello everyone, I have a strange question and I've been wondering if anybody could help me.

I don't speak French, I don't understand a word of it really. A month ago this elderly lady started to call me. She spoke French so I knew right away that she dialed a wrong number. Weeks later she keeps calling me, sometimes 3, 4 times per day, and leaving me long messages on the answering machine. When I answer and try to explain to her the situation (in German or English) and that I'm obviously not the person she is looking for, she keeps speaking in French (apologizing, explaining?), hangs up or keeps calling the name of the person that she is trying to reach.

Yes, I know I could block her. But obviously she is trying really really hard to reach this person and doesn't understand that she won't get it through me.

Is anyone out there that would want to help an old lady? I really want to help her but like I said I don't speak French and neither does anyone I know. She sounds nice and friendly if that helps anyone :)

I would really appreciate it!!

Car rental with 24/7 parking?

$

Mobility has 24/7 access and no worries about parking (just rent when you need it), but is expensive for longer trips.

Traditional car rental companies are cheaper for longer trips, but one has to pick up during business hours and somehow park it overnight if the trip would start early the next day.

Do any car rental companies in Zurich offer 24/7 parking as an add-on? For example, rent for a period of 2-3 days and have parking available at/near the rental location for the whole period? (Without relying on blue zones).

Online cosmetics shopping

Hi all,

Would anyone recommend an online cosmetics shopping site which is reliable but not hugely expensive? I am looking to buy some good nourishing creme as well as some collagen and vitamins. I was looking for something like Muller online but their website is very confusing and not sure there is a proper search function(if any it does not recognize English words)

I would appreciate any recommendations! Thanks!

Facebook Marketplace

Dear FB. Loving your marketplace site and loving that you aren't (yet) levying fees on people to sell via this medium.

NOT loving that you don't have a filter for me to weed our private vs professional sellers. Means that when I want to buy something I'm having to scroll through acres of cheaply produced crap that I could have just bought directly from a store or online.

And on that note, NOT loving that you don't have a filter for me to isolate new vs second hand goods.

If only you could sort these things out, you'd be a much more competitive contender to Ricardo and Ebay. Or is it that you do have these filters in place but they're so cunningly hidden, because you actually want people to buy new, disposable in a couple of years junk?

Make yourself heard in hospitals if you wait for too long

$

As many of you, I already had the experience of waiting for a very long time at the urgency of a hospital to be seen by a doctor.
For example, my wife that was 8 months pregnant had a dizziness episode that we did not know what it was, and she waited on a hospital bench during 4 hours to be seen by a doctor. At one point, we left and went home because she was getting worse sitting down due to her condition.

Now a friend of mine that started to work as a doctor here in Switzerland and explained to me the reality at the hospitals.

Basically in a time frame of 3 hours he can take care of 20 patients while he has colleagues that take care of 1 single patient during the same time, which is not normal for an urgency service. He already tried to expose this reality of lack of performance from his work colleagues but he was threatened by his hospital managers to stop doing these kind of denunciations.

There are some cases of children with broken bones that have to wait for hours as well to be seen by someone and nobody cares. The patients dont complain and even if you complain it will be worse.

There is a clear lack of performance within hospitals here in Switzerland. There is no regulation, no control or performance evaluations.

I really dont agree clapping every day, cheering the medical staff here in Switzerland during the Coronavirus crisis. I would cheer Italian doctors in Italy, Spanish doctors in Spain and people that work in Coop, Migros etc that are really risking their lives everyday to serve us.

Doctors here in Switzerland are not taking any risks and dont deserve this praise.

Hi, I remember it was a nice test, where based on 14(?) words it determines which swiss dialect you are speaking ( assuming you are swiss ). It claims to be precise enough to determine your valley origin :-) I want to test my swiss colleagues , but I forgot the link

Information on which roads are open/closed to motorised traffic?

$

Ideally I'd like to find a map of which segments of mapped roads/forest roads/ etc lie behind this sign and which do not. That is, where can a random person (without special permission, such as being a resident/farmer of that specific area) drive a car or motorcycle?

This is interesting to know both for where one can drive and for where one can walk/cycle without motor traffic or without listening to traffic noise reverberating across the landscape.

TCS compiles seasonal mountain road closures and other road conditions. Their map has a color coding for conditions - I assume if they give a road a color, it is at least sometimes open to cars/motorcycles. Yet there are also road segments that do not have a color yet are open to cars/motorcycles, so it seems not totally complete in more remote locations.

map.geo.admin.ch maps the type of road/path but does not seem to have information about permitted uses. However, the layer 'daytime road traffic noise' seems to be fairly accurate on the noise question (not sure about the permission question).

Any other sources of information (aggregated CH-wide)?

Shipping To Bulgaria

Hi all,
I bought something on ebay (spare part for the car) and it was the wrong one.
Now they said that I can send it back to Bulgaria, where it was shipped originally from. I am checking prices on post.ch and I see that, even for a letter, the cost is 61 CHF???
Am I doing something wrong here? I checked other countries in EU and prices are all the same: 1.40 for letters and 9 for small packages.
What's with shipping to Bulgaria?
