- How much do you pay for an annual membership ?
- Is the place easy to go (Bus, parkplatz, etc.)
- Is it modern and clean (machine, garderobe, etc.)

Tell me more about where you go please ;) ?

I want to try FlowerPower but it's a bit far from the center of Bern.

Telefon vs Handynummer

The other day when I was in VALIANT bank, they ask for my telefon and I ask him if he wants my 'Handynummer' and he said what? (*with a smirkface*)

So I guess they call it telefon instead of handynummer.

Expat life, culture clash and cognitive biases

One of the things that surprise you at the beginning of your life abroad is how differently at times people do and perceive things. I put this down to culture and country of origin the first few years, but 8 years and 3 countries later I can say that in my experience often culture and origin have very little to do with behaviours. Of course we all carry traits that come straight from what we learnt as children and from where we grew up. But how much does that really influence the adult life of many educated, well travelled people? As I did not move abroad to bring my motherland with me, I have been determined to find out more.

Hello friends,

My husband and I have recently moved to Bern and looking to join Salsa dance class for beginners. Unfortunately, we both commute and can only learn on the weekends. I have been searching online but all classes seem to be in the week. Does anyone know of Salsa (or maybe even Swing) dance class that takes place on a weekend?

Thanks for the information.

Swisscare student health insurance Geneva

Hi everyone,
I just received my residency permit. I am a first year student at the University of Geneva, and I have to choose a insurance company for the compulsory health insurance (LAmal ?). I found on the forum people mentioning http://www.swisscare.com/ for students ( 80chf per month). Will the Geneva Cantonal authorities accept it ? The company wasn't on the list the authorities sent me.
So I would be very thankful if anyone could tell me if this company is ok or if I should choose the other listed companies who are far more expensive.

Thank you all

I am sharing a room in a 3.5 room apartment with another person. The contract is the name of other persons and we both have a mutual contract between us.
As per notice period I need to give 2 months notice period in writing.
Can i give the notice period on 1st of month eg 1st April and vacate the house by 31st May. Or is it mandatory to give it by end of each month even though its just a difference of 1 day.
Please also let me know if the email communication is fine or i need to give a written notice, Please let me know the exact process of giving notice period.
Thanks for all the help

Street --- Road --- Boulevard

While the term AVENUE is widely in use in BOTH the UK and the USA, the French term Boulevard is heavily in use in the USA but not in the UK. And normal roads in the USA are called STREETS but in the UK generally rather ROADS ------ all proves the famous Statement that what divides Britain and the USA is the common language

I am a beginer and I am planning to go to Flumserberg to ski either tomorrow or on Saturday. I am just wondering if tomorrow will be a good day because according to google, tomorrow seems to be sunny and warmer there and on Saturday there will be more snowfall and it will be colder. So Will it be an awesome day to ski tomorrow in Flumserberg, or it will be better on Saturday?

Macbook Air challengers 2015

Since the current Macbook & Macbook air are looking decidedly naff when it comes to screen res + those huge bezels, I present you a new challenger:

The Dell XPS13 with 3200x1800 screen, in a case the size of an 11" laptop. This seriously rocks! Still 1.2 Kg but comes with your choice of Broadwell processors (i3 to i7) and either Windows 8.1 or Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and 4 to 8 gigs of RAM. And plenty of ports, unlike something that got announced a month ago. I usually don't endorse Dell but this one looks much much better than usual.

I haven't seen anything else like it... Especially screenwise. We can use this thread to add whatever the competition comes up with...
