Hi all,

Just moved into our flat (it's a new build < 4 yrs old) and there are 8 places where we need to install ceiling lights.

I'm looking for two recommendations please:

1) best bang-for-buck light that offers bight lighting that looks good. Requirements are it has to be bright, relatively cheap, and most importantly leave no permanent holes in the ceiling (when we eventually move out I do not want any penalties/fines because of mounting lights

2) installer recommendations - what is the going rate now-a-days?

I searched some older threads re this topic and found some that are 3-4 years old so keen to understand going rate and any new options available for lighting.

I have a few bottles of perfume, nail polish, etc that are partly full. I don't think it's appropriate to throw them in the trash....does it make sense to collect them and dispose of them with things like paint?

Likewise, what do you do with bottles of shampoo and the like....usually small samples from hotels that you thought you might use but don't or the occassional purchase that isn't as expected.

If I went to a dentist in Germany, is it possible to deduct the medical bills from my Swiss taxes? Or, is this only possible if you go to a Swiss dentist?

I'm new to PayPal, but so far everything's been good. I've figured out how to put money on my card. That stuff's easy, but I can't seem to be able to withdraw money from my account.

PayPal is stupid in that you have to link a bank to be able to take out money, rather than just being able to use your IBAN, and send money that way. I typed in what I thought were the right details for my account (namely the number beneath the chip on my card because the IBAN was too long, and the BC number which I believe is 9000 for PostFinance), but I got an e-mail saying that the two small deposits PayPal made didn't go through.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this? Am I doing it wrong? What two numbers am I supposed to type in?

I don't have a lot of money in my account, but I'd rather it were on my card where I can make use of it, rather than spending it on something silly just so it isn't going to waste.

Torneo treadmill for sale. Less than 2 years old. I only used it for walking and am only selling it because we are moving to the states this summer. I also have the mat that came with it to protect the floor. I still have the box it came in and it can be broken down for moving.

Our family of five is moving to Switzerland from America next summer (husband's job transfer). He'll be working out of Fribourg and we've decided to live somewhere on the French side, preferably not longer than a 45 minute commute (car). Our teen needs an international school to finish high school, but we'll have to place my 4 and 6 year olds in public schools. Any recommendations on an area with good primary schools (I know not all public schools are created equal) and an international school (tuition around 30000CHF) nearby?

Howdy, y'all!

Or, perhaps, I should just give a "hello" to everyone.

I'm from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in the U.S. and we're moving to Switzerland next year. My husband is transferring to work in Fribourg, beginning in January. I'll follow with our three children (now 15, 4, and 2) at the start of the summer (don't want to uproot them in the middle of the semester). I've only been to Switzerland twice in my lifetime and, unfortunately, have only had a couple of years of high school French, so I shall have TONS of questions to ask all of you, both about the language and Swiss life.

I just moved to Zürich a couple days ago, and I am looking for a good Swiss German phrase book for my iPhone that speaks the words to me. Nothing super fancy, just something that reminds me how to ask/answer basic questions and have simple conversations. Any recommendations?

I urgently need a third row seat for my Peugeot 308 SW HDI. unfortunately all the service stations I have talked to (in Geneva or across the border) say that they need to order it from the manufacturer, and that it would take a month!

Does anyone have a spare seat that I could buy/rent/borrow? Or any advice on where else I could get one?

I am wondering whether I'll have to change my travel plans for next weekend and May..…….. Thanks a lot!!
