Ways of tax return, do they conflict each other

$

Dear all,

It was my first time to do tax return for 2014. (I'm very bad in German)
I'm in Zurich

With the help of friends, I use the code on the form to establish a profile online.
However some days after, I went to the tax office and ask about how to fill, they tell me it can be filled in a much simpler way. Therefore I filled the paper form and sent with all materials.

Today I log to the online tax return website and find that my online tax return profile is still not complete (read "Aktueller Stand in Bearbeitung"). I'm now quite worried about the situation.

The question is:
If I start declaring tax online, is that a must to finish the online profile? Will my paper tax form be accepted then? (Aktueller Stand in Bearbeitung makes me nervous)

Please help me!
Thank you!

.... contd PART 2

STEPS AT THE SWITZERLAND SIDE (after VISA APPLICATION SUBMISSION)

After few weeks from the date of application, your spouse will receive the letter as Vorverfahren und Beurkundung der Hochzeit/Partnerschaft (prelieminary procedures and registration of Marriage/Partnership) from Civil affairs office/Zivilstandamt:
  • If you or your spouse wish to change the surnames, for all the future documents and all resigration process in Switzerland.
  • Also, they confirm receiving of your documents from India.
He/she will be asked to come to Zivilstandamt with marital status certificate or Personenstandausweis in original.

Your swiss spouse will be asked to visit Migration office/Fremdenkontrolle. He will request personally for marriage visa.

I would suggest your spouse visit the Migration office/ Fremdenkontrolle/ Fremdenpolzei in Switzerland as soon as possible.
    This fremdenkontrolle process includes:
  • Your spouse will receive a series of questions like (which my spouse received):
  • How, when and under what condition did you meet to your spouse?
  • How you both have been in contact?
  • Does he have any relatives in swiss?
  • How you think Mr/Miss X can integrate in Swiss society?
  • Has he/she received any prior language knowledge?
  • How you finance your Living? (for your swiss spouse)
  • When would you like Mr/Miss X travelling to swiss? Please give us the range of travel dates.
  • Give us your latest Telephone number, in case we want to contact you.

These two queries (from zivilstand and fremdenkontrolle) should be replied as soon as possible. This would just help to speed up things after the formalities are fulfilled from your spouse part within 1-2 weeks.
  • For my application this was needed and I don’t think it would be any different.
    1. Passport copy
    2. Copy of rental contract from his/ her landlord

Now once your spouse submits all these documents and queries, he/she should hear from the Migration office within 2-7 days but in my case, it was on the second last day of 3 months time period of marriage visa i.e. 2nd Feb 2015. They confirm an email and letters about my visa acceptance and completion of marriage visa process.

STEPS FROM THE INDIAN SIDE (after VISA CONFIRMATION)

Once your spouse has received the confirmation letter, you have to mail at
ndh.visa@eda.admin.chto confirm that the Swiss Embassy, Delhi has received your positive application. (They are quick and you will hear through an email. Yes! We have received your application and you will have to come and collect the passport with visa.

You will be called to collect your passport. You can choose to come and personally collect within one month or take the courier service.

Carry Passport, the letter sent by Immigration office to your spouse and the confirmation letter from visa section of Swiss Embassy, Delhi.
Your passport will be ready for collection next day. You should now hold a valid visa.

You should travel to Zurich/Geneva within 1 month of stamping of visa.

The marriage visa is valid for 3 months (after arriving in Switzerland) and is extended if the procedure is not completed by kanton government till all formalities are fulfilled.

STEPS FROM THE SWITZERLAND SIDE (after ARRIVAL IN BERN)

Once you have safely landed in Switzerland. You must register with the local Zivilstand office no later than 15 days from landing and they take all your passports (including old passports) and give the confirmation letter for passport deposit.

At the same time, they ask to inform them telephonically about a mutual date for marriage registration at Zivilstandamt, Bern.

After enjoying 1.5 months … we confirmed the the date to civil affairs office. For us, it was on 1st April 2015.

It was one hour procedure at Zivilstandamt/civil affairs office and we got marriage certificate and my passport after some paper formalities (to be continued in new thread).

Now, I will apply for Auslaenderausweis/Resident cum work Permit after Easter.

Switzerland Marriage Visa with Swiss citizen (for Indian/Non EU)

Part 1....
I am a Indian muslim doctor from Delhi & finished my medical graduation from India. I am now in Bern, Switzerland with my spouse who is Swiss Christian . I have come here to Switzerland on a marriage visa and already married now. I applied from Delhi in November 2014 & I couldn`t find the correct information regarding the same earlier.

Even Embassy of Switzerland civil affairs staffs are not fully aware about it because it is not very common someone from India marrying a Swiss and laws with paper work varies for each Kanton in Switzerland.

And thus I have tried to collect all information which I have gathered during my application process for Kanton Bern, so as to help future applicants.

Please note: There could be some variation in paper work & rules for each kanton in Switzerland & also at Swiss consulate, Mumbai. I have applied through the Delhi office and all information holds true for the same.

STEPS AT INDIAN SIDE (beginning of VISA APPLICATION PROCESS)
Marriage visa is accepted at Embassy of Switzerland only and not at VFS centre at Nehru Place, New Delhi.

Embassy of Switzerland

Chanakyapuri
New Delhi 110 021

ndh.visa@eda.admin.ch
https://www.eda.admin.ch/newdelhi

First of all you will need list of paper work done before you submit your application at Embassy, Delhi

Documents for MARRIAGE/PARTNERSHIP VISA
For Marriage or Partnership, documents required are same.
https://www.eda.admin.ch/countries/india/en/home/services/civil-status/marriage.html
How to avail the documents/ get it attested/apostile:
For Indian Spouse (going to Switzerland for marriage):

  • I submitted incl:
  • high school: class 9th & 10th
  • class 11th and 12th from my university attached school
  • medical college marksheets + Degree copies & with its transcripts
  • Goethe certificates for german
  • Other cerficates like BLS-ACLS certificates, Medical licenses from Delhi Council of India, MCI, LORs from my college, hospitals-where I worked, work experience certificates etc.
  • “Original Birth certificate” issued by the Directorate of Statistics & Evaluation of the concerned State, duly legalised as mentioned below (on the translated copy only and not on original).

Please note, that no Birth certificate is directly apostile by state home ministry as mentioned in the embassy’s list will be accepted directly.

Legalization of birth certificate is most cumbersome process of all, especially in Bihar. It took me almost 4.5 months for first 3 steps below:
Step 1 -- Take the original certificate to any Local English Translator if in Hindi or Urdu (Eg: vision Trans, Shop no.245, Palika Bazar, Connaught Palace, New Delhi), who will translate, sign and stamp the _front side_ of the document.

Step 2 -- Visit the SubDivisional Officer/upp Adhikari of your District (New Building) where you tell, you would like to have the certificate "attested". It costs you some money sometimes & approach/jugad.
Step 3— translated certificate has to be legalised by the “Deputy Secretary Home" of the State, where the certificate is issued(e.g. for natives of Bihar – old building, Near Kabootarkhanna, Patna) .
Step 4-- The document has to be Apostille by the "Ministry of External Affairs", Consular Section, Patiala House, Tilak Marg, New Delhi. It has been outsourced since Aug/Sept 2014 BUT there are addresses mentioned on MEA gate. I went to shop no 911 on 9th floor, Indra Prakash building , New Delhi, India ( it is adjoin gate from Barakhamba Road metro station). They take 90 INR & return back in 2-3 days at max.

THIS SHOULD BE IN ENGLISH/ GERMAN/FRENCH/ITALIAN only!

    4. Visa fee by DD or Swiss Receipt
For Marriage Visa fee will be: Rs 55000 per application (or CHF 800 if paid in Switzerland). My Spouse paid it in Bern & I attached the bank statement from kanton Bern Bank

    • Visa fee should be paid only by Demand draft in favor of EMBASSY OF SWITZERLAND, payable in Delhi.

    • All fees are non-refundable.

    5. Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)

Know your Local Delhi Police station for your area & apply online (http://www.delhipolice.nic.in).
They issue 1 online PCC format with your photo. Take a print out & submit.
This should actually not take more than 15 days, but would depend on each police station.
    THIS SHOULD BE ENGLISH/GERMAN.

Please note: Unknowingly, I had also got issued & apostille PCC from Passport centre, Ministry of External affairs but it is unacceptable.

    6. Marital Status Affidavit with content as mentioned in this Embassy List. Indian Lawyers have the readymade format for it. Just get the print out with your personal info in it.

    7. Declaration for marriage (to be done in front of officer, when submitting)

    8. Curiculum Vitaé

    9. A hand written application requesting for the visa.

    10. Original Passport including old cancelled passport, they take 3 copies of passport(s) & return you all the original passport(s).

    From Swiss spouse:

    10. Copy of Passport

    11. Email copy of Marital status certificate/Personenstandausweis: to be obtained by swiss spouse from Zivilstandkreis of their Heimat Gemeinade (ancestral home town)

Once all of this is ready you can visit the Embassy of Switzerland,Delhi & submit your application.

While submitting the bundle of copies of everything, you will be asked to fill the 2 copies of particulars form & 3 declarations:
Particular form has your & your spouse's personal Details.
Declaration includes: 1st – for marriage declaration
2nd for lawyer permission to verify all docx personally
3rd for not violiating any swiss law as mentioned in the form like marrying relatives, polygamy marriages, incest etc.

There is also short (1-2 mins) interview (alongwith all cross-confirmation) about your partner and future plans with her/him.

Mind you this is not the end of the application; you will have to go once again, if they missing some docx and then will be called again.

After verification of all the documents by Swiss Embassy lawyers’ personal visit to all places including till your district for birth certificate, it is one of the most important for Switzerland’s social security purposes.

There will be another interview in details informally by embassy lawyer (Indian) usually in mother tongue. He asks anything to everything about you & your partner. I had to give handwritten of all the things, which he asked in a sequence in the form of application (from meeting my spouse till future plans together). He had my educational documents & nothing of Swiss spouse. It was in a Café coffee Restaurant in my case (after mutual decision & convenience), he sent his personal response/report about the interview outcome, which I guess was very good because I had no problem after this (they never disclose your & also their identity- no jugad works). I was in shock about and after this informal interview, how informally it happened.

Remember never lie or contradict about any information already given.

It is advisable to keep 1 whole bundle set of all documents, which you give at Embassy. Read them all before you each time, when you have to visit at Embassy or for informal interview.

As I was called again in Embassy before they sent it to Swiss Immigration office. It was 3rd January 2015. I signed 1 more declaration for further process and was told about the sending and was told to wait and my Swiss spouse will be informed first about if Immigration has accept for our marriage, after they verify everything on my Swiss spouse’s part.

Hi all, I found this forum totally by accident an figured id register. The reason I found this forum is because I'm actually looking for an ex south african living in Switzerland... but it's a long shot and probably also very weird, But I haven't really had much luck finding the person...

Other than that as I was going through the posts I noticed that there's a lot of talk about working in the country and I have always wanted to leave SA... I saw a lot of links and things but those links are old .. Some dating back to 2006.
I'm a Project manager by profession - if anybody can maybe point me in the right direction of where to look. I'd appreciate it very much.

P.S. The girl I'm looking for is a 24 yr old ex south african that moved to China then moved to switzerland.

I'd love to become an expat on any point of the world.

braids and cornrow

Amazing braids and dreadlocks extended with synthetic hair are wonderful idea for a spring new look. After around two months you can easily remove it without damage your natural hair

If you like small change just for one night or couple weeks cornrows are great idea, you can have crazy patterns on your head or decide to do just 3 cornrows on side with lovely blow dry like Carmen Electra.
Hair extension, different methods depends of end result you want to get and hair type you have.

I also remove synthetic braids, dreadlocks, hair extension and cornrows and provide treatments and blow dry. write me a pm if your interested.

Leaving Switzerland-what should I bring with?

$

Some background: I come from the land of brown sugar and chocolate chips (that's the USA, not America). I've lived in this blessed land long enough to speak Swiss-German (okay, sort of, really just with my kids, and I will never figure out the Sie vs. du bit) and appreciate the finer discussions regarding fondue (my husband's job) and Zopf (only on weekends). I am paper-swiss, married to a Swiss, with three Swiss kids...and we're finally outta here!

I've thought of only four items to bring back...

A raclette oven
A fondue pot
A cowbell
A scherrenschnitte (the black and white, intricately snipped artwork that is everywhere here).

Okay, what else will we miss? I've got a 20 foot container and room to spare...and I'm pretty sure I won't be missing much besides the lovely friends I've made (and sadly, they probably wouldn't make the trip by sea-but hey, we'll have a spare room!!!)

What happens when a dual citizen moves back to Switzerland?

$
0
0
My partner has dual citizenship: Swiss and American. He moved to the US when his parents split up when he was 15. He attended college here and currently works for a large technology company based in California. It is pretty common for people in his position at the company to make temporary moves to the Zurich office for a year or two. We would really like to take advantage of that, but I'm worried about several things having to do with his Swiss citizenship. Namely:
  • Taxes: I understand that Swiss dual citizens do not have to pay Swiss taxes when living abroad if they live in the country where they have second citizenship. How does that change if we move to Switzerland? I'm pretty sure that we would still have to pay US taxes because those are based on citizenship, not residency. Will we just have to pay double taxes? Can we get out of that by maintaining a residence in the US?
  • Military service: Because he left when he was 15, my partner never had to complete his required military conscription. He's now 31. Will he have to serve if we move for a year or two?
  • Lifestyle: Would the expat community in Zurich be welcoming to someone who isn't really an expat?
  • Me: My partner and I are not married, but we have discussed it and it would likely become a reality before this move. I don't know if it's a practical idea though. I'm a software developer and I could probably get myself transferred to a position in Zurich on my own. If he does end up having to pay double taxes, wouldn't it be better for us to have me file single and only pay US taxes? If that doesn't work out though, I would like to have a work visa. I assume that would be easier to do if you are married to a citizen. What are my chances of getting one as a software engineer (either married or not)?

We are still in the information gathering stage and will of course be seeking out consulate resources as well as advice from his company. (I'm sure that this is not the most complicated immigration situation they've dealt with by a long shot). However, if anyone else has a similar experience or advice I'd love to hear from you.

Disposing of unwanted hygiene products

Hi

Is there a nice way to get rid of unwanted hygiene/cosmetic products (shampoos, oils, etc.)

I have some stuff I decided is not suitable to my needs. The obvious answer is to throw them away. But...

1) They are still usable, and probably someone would be happy with them. So would be great if it was possible to give them away. I hate wasting :D

2) If I am throwing away, was planning to take the plastic parts to recycling. But then I would have to empty them into my sink meaning lots of chemicals go into world waters system:msnsad:

Hi, we are currently living in Australia but are considering to move to Switzerland. As a family we are now trying to understand how we will land this with our oldest son who is soon turning 10. As it looks we will probably start up in Thun and our first thought was that maybe there is an international school in the vicinity where he can proceed in English while picking up the official languages? Surely some of you would have been through something similar, what is the right way to go here? Your advice is greatly appreciated.

Winter job in ski resort

Hi everyone,

I am a student in the United States and I'm looking for a winter job for about 4 weeks this year in a ski resort. My plan is to spend half of the time on the mountain snowboarding and the other half for some job to pay off the expense.

I have been a part-time bartender for the past three years, so ideally a bartending job would be great. I know most of the standard cocktails, and have some special knowledge in whisky and wine. My native languages are English and Chinese. I can also speak basic Russian, Spanish, French and Japanese.

Alternatively, my profession is software engineering. So if there's demand for short-term project like building website, iOS applications, or even Apple Watch applications, would also be wonderful. I have experience working for tech companies both in China and Silicon Valley in California (where I am currently living).

Thank you all very much!
