RAV vs Sozial [returning Swiss citizen]

Tomorrow is my first consultation with RAV.
I'm scared as f###, i don't know what to do.
I'm not prepared yet.

If ever I don't get any unemployment benefits from RAV can I go to Sozial instead? But my swiss side doesn't want me to go there because of ''pride''.

English forum is my only friend right now. :msncrazy:

Taxes paid by owning a house abroad and renting it out

Hi all,

We're currently living in Switzerland, and we're thinking about maybe exploring the possibility of buying a couple of apartments in Spain and renting them out. We'd like to know the tax implications of doing this. Therefore, we'd really appreciate if somebody who has more experience about this shed some lights about the following questions:

* If we buy two apartments out of Switzerland, I understand we'd need to count them for paying wealth tax in Switzerland. Would we be charged also the taxes for imputed rent that apartments in Switzerland have?
* We were also thinking about the possibility of maybe establishing a firm in Spain, and rent the appatments through it. If me and my wife were the owners of this firm, how would taxes work for us, here in Switzerland?

Thanks for your help!

Medical center (doctors) in Bern?

Hi. I'm looking for a medical center at Bern.

By medical center I mean somewhere (e.g. hospital, clinic...) where there are multiple doctors and they provide outpatient services in a relatively quick timing based on the availability of doctors.

The reason is that I am sick (maybe a bronchite) and I'm in Bern (quite far from my family doctor) this week, so I'd like to see a doctor in Bern first.

Thanks.

Annoying work permit process - need help

$

Hi all,

I'm a non-EU person in UK. Recently my Hr told me that my work permit ( along with my wife) has been approved and said that I should pick up my entry visa from Switzerland embassy in London.

When I contacted the embassy here they asked me to get a visa authorisation letter when I visit them. However I haven't received any such letter even after 3 weeks of the approval. When my Hr contacted the canton authorities they mentioned that they dispatched the letter directly to the embassy in London, but the Embassy guys say they haven't received any letter yet. I wonder what the exact process is. Can someone explain me the actual process to get my entry visa.

Also, my Hr told that both our permits have been approved. But today the London embassy officer told that my wife's details are not entered into the system and her authorisation has not been approved. Does that mean that my wife's permit has not been approved at all ?? I have mailed the canton authorities and waiting for their reply.

Thanks,
Kris.

Lonville Classic 2015 - Piemonte

www.lonvilleclassic.com

The 5th Lonville Classic will once again bring old and new friends together for a magic weekend where we enjoy our shared passion for classic cars.

For this year’s edition, we have swapped our beloved Italian and Swiss lakes for the winding roads, vineyards and rolling hills of Piemonte, part of the Langhe region of Italy!

La dolce vita! You will travel over unique roads and through small villages home to some of Italy’s great wines like Barolo and Barbaresco. Timed road stages and unusual tests are interrupted for good food in glorious locations, and the occasional wine tasting. Lonville takes time for the good things in life! On Sunday participants have the opportunity to ‘dress to match your car’ – all part of the fun and competition.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Piemonte.
Gentlemen, start your engines!

Afraid: Scams @ Immoscout24.ch?

Hi,

I am not offering either property or looking for property with this. I didn't know where exactly post it but as it is related to a rental apartment I am looking for I thought this could be an option. If not, sorry and please SysOp, please move it where it should be more appropriate.

I have applied to several apartments to visit in ZH and I got a wide range of feedback: from no feedback at all (most), to rejection (many), through visit is scheduled at a point I can't make it (some), and ending (the subject of this post) in what I think is scam (2 replies).

The modus-operandi is similar:
  • someone with an apartment in the city which is not being lived at the moment,
  • the aged landlord, with almost no way or mood to travel to CH for this,
  • who is not living in the country (usually bought for a daugther or a son who finally left the country too),
  • advertising the apartment for a low - to - very - low rent (compared to the average) and
  • furnitured.
They both took a while to reply to the application, but when they did, they ask for a amount of money (as deposit) which I should pay upfront to an external party which is not a rental agency in Switzerland (to secure both they don't come for nothing, showing my real interest for the proprerty). Of course there is a latent demand for the apartment so you have to be quick to secure the transaction! :weirdo:

I wonder if someone faced this too (I had another scam attempts which I sorted out perfectly, but with computers, not with a property!). The source of the ads was Immoscout24.ch, but the ads are not available anymore.

Maybe I am a bit "neurotic" but after 3 successful rentals in CH I found this, at least, weird. Maybe someone has a good experience with this kind of rentals and can share his/her feedback so I can feel safer and less suspicious....

In advance, thanks a million.

Best Regards,
LLaP

Firing the Sole Provider of the Family?

$

Dear fellow members,

As some of you know my wife suffered full blown burnout back in December of 2013, then later in 2014 quit her job and we are now *very* pregnant and expecting baby #2.

A week ago I was served the 3-month notification letter advising upcoming termination end of June 2015.

Given that my wife is due in 4 weeks and for the following 4 months in maternity - are there any limitations to my termination as sole provider of the family?

Cheers

Is it ok to walk-in into rental agency office?

$

Hello,

What do you think, is it considered normal here to approach any agency office unappointed and try? I pass by a few of them every day on my way to work but they don't look as a place where they are ready to accept customers. It seems to me that I would be 'thrown off the door' like an annoying hawker selling junk.

I don't speak French so I am really struggling with a flat search. All I did so far was a kind of routine of spending almost every evening searching for ads. I just have the idea that maybe I should find a good English speaking contact at some of the real estate agency and keep in touch with him/her.

Any other good advise very welcome - PM me please!

Can I be a freelancer with non-restricted "B"?

$

Hi everybody!

I used "search" to find similar topics - I did, but most are 3-5 years old, and did not fully answer my questions...

I am at the moment employed by Swiss Company, I have B permit (non-restricted), I live in CH since 2007 (2 years L, then restricted B, and since 2013 - non-restricted B)

For nearest future I consider two options:

1) I quit my job, and become a freelancer - I will have only one client, max 2 clients...(not sure yet if I can work for my current employer as a freelancer, when I quit). My question is: will I be able, being a freelancer, to prolong my Permit when it expires next year? My overall earning will be quite modest - up to 5-6 kCHF/month max. Freelance contract - up to 2-3 years

2) For ongoing projects I stay with my employer, but reduce my workload. Meanwhile I can sign a freelance Contract with another company. By doing so, i probably will be able to prolong my permit (having a permanent "usual" contract with my current employer). My question - how then the taxation for "freelancer" will be done? If I receive 3k CHF a month as a freelancer - where shall declare them, How I pay income tax, and other deductions...

For both options: shall I open any company? Can I actually open my own company not being a swiss national? What are the operation costs of running such a company (does it make sense for such modest incomes?).

Can somebody suggest which authorities I shall contact to get information? Shall I contact any consultant to learn what I shall tell to authorities and how I have to "present" my case, not to be punished just for asking :)

Any help is very welcome!
