I have my old NAS for sale as the upgrade already arrived and I migrated all data off it.
It's a 4-yr old Conceptronic CH3SNAS, a 1-to-1 ripoff of the DLink DNS-323.
(you can also flash it to be a D-Link:

Has space for 2x SATA-II drives (SATA-III would work as well), can use your disks as:
- RAID 1 (mirroring)
- RAID 0 (striping)
- JBOD (just a bunch of disks, any drive will do)
- BYOD (bring your own drive, 2 independent disks)
-has gigabit, about 15MB/sec downstream, 8-10MB/s upstream (FTP is quicker, this is Windows File sharing)
-can serve as a DLNA server
- an iTunes server
- an FTP server.
- Windows Fileshare
- printer share on the network thru USB.
- has a mini linux on it for the ones liking to poke around :)
Unfortunately too slow on CPU for torrents, so not officially supported (although working, but for limited speeds). The NAS spins down it's drives when idle (also in RAID configurations). In idle it consumes about 5W power, so ideal to let it run and serve the whole household (desktops, laptop, iDevices) with media. With just filesharing this is a great little device. Also very silent, thanks to a customized fan-script that is running on it. :)
I am having a single disk in it, it's a 1.5TB WD Green SATA-II drive that was just used to store and playback movies every now and then, so ran about only 5-10% of it's 3 yrs or so lifetime.
Have the box for everything. Say 100CHF for the NAS, 150CHF together with the HDD?
